Desulfurization towers usually use chemical reactions to desulfurize. In the desulfurization tower, the exhaust gas is contacted with a desulfurizer (such as limestone, sodium hydroxide, etc.), and the sulfide is converted into sulfate or sulfuric acid through a chemical reaction with the desulfurization agent, thereby removing sulfur dioxide and other sulfides in the exhaust gas.

The desulfurization tower can also use physical absorption for desulfurization. In the desulfurization tower, the exhaust gas is contacted with the absorbent (such as activated carbon, iron oxide, etc.), and the sulfide in the exhaust gas is adsorbed to the surface of the absorbent through adsorption, thereby achieving the purpose of desulfurization.

Through desulfurization tower treatment, the sulfide content in the exhaust gas can be reduced, reducing pollution to the atmosphere and environment, and meeting environmental protection requirements. At the same time, the desulfurization tower can also recover part of the desulfurizer, realize resource recycling, and save energy and costs.
